Winter Events in Tirol: Biathlon World Cup.

Biathlon is the undisputed number one winter sport on German, Norwegian and Russian television. Its popularity in Austria has been boosted by a number of events having been staged in the Tirolean town of Hochfilzen, which has already hosted 15 World Cup events and the 2005 biathlon World Championships. This December around 90,000 spectators are expected for the World Cup Biatholon in Hochfilzen.  To make sure you’re there to witness this amazing event book your stay between 11th and 14th December.

Winter Events in Tirol: 69th Hahnenkamm Races, Kitzbühel

The world’s greatest ski race celebrates its 69th year when the Hahnenkamm race tests the top skiers in this stage of the World Cup. The event kicks off on Friday 23rd January, in the medieval town of Kitzbuhel. Expect parties throughout the entire event, fantastic restaurants and lots of celebrities.

Winter Events in Tirol: Billabong Air & Style 09, Innsbruck.

Billabong Air & Style 09 is being held in Innsbruck’s Bergisel Stadium. It is one of Europe’s biggest snowboarding contest, and one of the world’s top 6 snowboarding events. Riders include Terje Haakonsen, Antti Autti and Risto Mattila from Finland, Peter König and Werner Stock from Austria and Colin Frei from Switzerland.

Winter Events in Tirol: 37th International Cross Country Classic Ski Race, St. Johann

The majestic mountains of the Wilder Kaiser massif provides the backdrop for around 2,000 participants from 16 nations in this cross country classic ski race, which also attracts many ambitious amateurs. The event includes classes in four distances, 50km, 30km, the 42km classic and the 25km classic.
